Left Hand Position on Handle of Club

Notice in Picture 1, below, how far the left thumb is down the handle of the club, and almost flat along the grip, whilst the fingers are wrapped around the butt end of the club. This position will increase tension in the wrist and forearms, making it difficult to cock the wrists correctly and robbing you of valuable distance and accuracy.

In Picture 2, below, the left thumb is in the correct position, much more arched than in Picture 1. To check your grip is correct, it should feel as though your thumb is pressing down on the index finger. You should also see an inch gap between the end of the handle and the fingers. This promotes the correct grip pressure, helping with the cocking and uncocking of the wrists.
